Lynda StevensThe Chalice Tarot Deck was begun in the late 80's, when Photoshop did not yet exist! Each card was designed by hand with pen and ink for outlines and Caran D'Ache colour pencils for the colour and designs, many of the cards being reworked several times until it was felt the last word had been said on each card.
The design has been described as being somewhat like Art Deco in mood, with colour and pattern symbolism being important for the interpretation for each card; however this is a figurative deck in design, not abstract.
The major arcana were published in a limited edition by Adam MC Clean in 2006. Some of the majors have been reconceived since then. The deck will also get a mention in the forthcoming Taschen Encyclopaedia of Esoterica, where three designs will be depicted.
